Hootsuite’s Newest Features

I know that this blog is supposed to be about photos, but this post is about a little program that I have been using for awhile now. One of the hardest issues that I have in dealing with social media is the ability to connect with my communities. That is one of the reasons that I love using my iPhone for photos and videos, I always have it with me and I can share it almost instantly with my community as things happen.

Hootsuite is an awesome little program that allows a person to aggregate (combine) social media networks into one application. In this case Hootsuite is accessible anywhere you have connectivity to the internet. Check out the newest additions to Hoosuite, they are pretty significant. Maybe it is just me, but it seems so hard to find a way to filter out all the excessive noise out there and just communicate with the people that I want to connect with. Thanks Hootsuite for all the great features!

Seattle Houseboat Photos

Here is a great example of how photography can really show the unique side of a community. Checkout Seattle Houseboat Photos to see how others live. I loved the movie Sleepless in Seattle, but I never knew that these houses floated on the water.

PANO – Panoramic Photo Stitching iPhone App

I really enjoy taking pictures. I own a Canon Rebel XTi and I shoot a lot of photos. The only problem is that I don’t always have my camera rig with me everywhere I go. I see great photo opportunities everywhere I go, on my way to work, paying my cable bill and at the grocery store.

Then I found a little iPhone App called PANO. It allows you to take panoramic pictures and stitch them together on the fly. It works great and is so simple and easy to use. The great thing is that I have my iPhone with me all the time, so I don’t miss those great photo opportunities. Here is my very first Pano shot:

This was taken, in my backyard, about a minute or two after I had downloaded and installed the App. This shot was done horizontally, but you can shoot vertically as well. It doesn’t take long to really get the hang of using this app. Here is another shot that I took just a few weeks later:

Checkout examples of PANO on flickr to see what others have done with this App.

As you can see, it does great and you always have it with you where ever you go. The greatest part is that you shoot the picture, when you are done, tell Pano to stitch your panorama, and within 30 seconds your photo is ready to upload. Simple, easy, quick, and goes everywhere you are. It is one of my favorite apps. Try PANO for yourself!

Best Video Upload App for iPhone

videoupforfacebook.thumbnailThis is one of my most used and favorite app on my iPhone. VideoUp allows video to be uploaded directly to Facebook. It works awesome and I have used it a ton. I have shot videos just about everywhere and then uploaded them to share on my Facebook page. It is not the same as streaming video, but it works great. Ustream Broadcaster offers streaming capability through their new app for the iPhone that works with the iPhone 3G as well.

Check this app out if you like to shoot videos and then share them on Facebook. If live streaming from your iPhone is your thing, then try Ustream’s new app.

FaceMic | Publish Your Audio on Twitter

facemic-300x191

I found this in my travels tonight and thought I would give it a try. It is called FaceMic. It allows you to record an audio message and upload it, along with a picture or map, to your facebook profile. There is also a version for twitter.

Time, from download to this being published, was about 2.5 minutes. Talk about intuitive and easy to use. The quality is great in a quiet room.

If you use this, let me know what you think.

Facebook Privacy Setting Updates Explained

facebook-icon-150x150I found this article this morning and thought that others may benefit from it. Checkout Why Facebook Changed Its Privacy Settings.

One thing that I can’t really understand is why people go out on social sharing platforms (Facebook, Twitter, ect…) and then want to keep everything private? Doesn’t make sense to me. I understand wanting to keep a phone number, birthday, or address private. Other than that, the whole point of the thing is to share your thoughts, photos, status updates with others. It has me scratching my head?

Here is an additional link that I found today, Cnet Facebook Article. Hope this helps.
